Features available to members throughout the web site

The SPLETS web site contains many interactive features for members. It is the most up-to-date version of the directory, by virtue of the fact that it displays updates immediately, and allows members to update and customise many aspects of their membership records amongst other things. Printed below are page by page listings.

The Login window
When you login to the SPLETS web site you will see two links, the first, when clicked, takes you to a screen from which you can update your Household membership details. An email will be sent to every member of the household who has an email address informing them of the changes made. There is a more comprehensive Household update page available from the 'Member Section' page. The second link takes you to a screen which allows you to update your email address.

The Directory page
As you might expect, the directory page offers a listing of all services available from SPLETS members. Clicking on a category expands the list to display all services in that category (it's also possible to display all categories at the same time). Clicking on a service will display a list of all members offering goods or work under that service. To see details and contact information for a member, click on their entry in the list. If the member has an email address, clicking it will open your email programme addressed to the member.

You may also search the directory by clicking the 'Search' link. You may type a whole string such as Aromatherapy Massage or just part of a word, e.g. typing aroma would find aromatic oils and aromatherapy, as well as Aromatherapy Massage. Searches are not case sensitive.

The Diary Dates page
The diary dates page displays all upcoming events organised by SPLETS members. Members and non-members alike can click a link to remove any event from the page which has expired. SPLETS members can add diary dates by clicking the link to the 'Add diary events' page. When added you will be able to edit or delete any event which you have added yourself by clicking the date of the event. Any member (or non-member) may click the title of the event for contact details of the event organiser.

The Offers & Wants page
The Offers & Wants page displays two list; one off offers and one off requests. Clicking the HH number in either list will display contact details of the member making the offer or request. Members may add one off offers and request by clicking the 'offers and wants' link. This will open a page displaying all offers or wants owned by your household, you may edit these by clicking the Household_ID, there is also a link for adding new one off offers or requests. Offers or Wants may be time limited, in which case they will cease to display when the time is up.

NB: only one off or time limited Offers or Requests should be added to this page, on-going offers should be added to the members offers from the 'Your own SPLETS details' link on the Member Section page.

The Member Section page
The Member Section page contains six links:
The 'Your own SPLETS details' link takes you to a page which will allow you to alter most of the details of your household membership including: your household password (for access to this site), whether the household type is a straightforward household, a business or on a low income, your SPLETS region, address and phone number(s) and whether you want to view the directory on-line or receive a printed copy (on-line is the preferred option if you have Internet access as it keeps sterling costs, and therefore membership fees, to a minimum and is much more efficient to use).

Beneath your household details you will normally see a list of household members. There is a button for adding new household members and clicking the 'Member ID' link for an entry will take you to a screen asking whether you wish to view, edit or delete the member's details. Clicking edit, for instance, will take you to a screen where you can make corrections to the member's name or e-mail address and add notes.

Beneath the member's details is a button for adding the member's on-going offers. When offers have been added they appear as a list beneath the member's details and can be edited or deleted by clicking the offer title.

The Your Beacons Statements link takes you to a screen where you can select a period during which you wish to see recorded Beacons transactions (bear in mind that it will take a little while for the Beacons treasurer to add new transactions to the database, so the most resent transactions may not appear). Enter the date from which you wish to see transactions and the date up to which you wish to see transactions and all entries between (but not including) those two dates will be displayed.

The All Member's Balances link displays a list of all current members showing their current, recorded Beacons balance, together with status, phone number, membership type and joining date.

The Membership List link displays a list of all current households, each household is followed by the members of that household. Clicking the HH Member link for a particular member will display the member's on-going offers.

The Member Search link allows you to search by member's forenames, member's surnames or both forename and surname. You may even type part of a name into a field and search for that, e.g. typing Jo into the forename field would find entries such as Jo, Joseph, Josephine, John, Jonathan and so on. NB typing part of a name into both fields will result in no results being returned.

The SPLETS members liftshare link offers an alternative lift sharing service to SPLETS members who would rather arrange lift sharing with other SPLETS members than use the national lift sharing service Liftshare.com. Organising lift shares only between members offers the confidence of knowing that your sharer is part of the SPLETS organisation and there is no need to supply your details on-line (as they are already held on the database). The liftshare system is very similar in use to the one-off offers and wants system and the SPLETS diary system (see above for details).
